Iyola Omisore Emerges Flag Bearer Of PDP in Ogun State

Former deputy governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore on Saturday emerged the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun ahead of the August 9 governorship election.

The chairman of the gubernatorial primary election, Mr Adamu Aliero, declared the result after the collation of delegates votes.


Aliero, who announced the result said, Omisore polled 1,128 while Hon Wole Oke had five votes, Senator Olasunkanmi Akinlabi had 35 votes and Senator Adetunji Adeleke had no vote.

Eighteen void votes were recorded.

After the result was announced, Senator Omisore said that he was humbled by the outcome.

Channels Television’s correspondent reports that Adeleke had, on Friday night, told reporters that he was pulling out of the primary.

According to Adeleke, his withdrawal from the race was as ”a result of irregularities in delegates list and violence”.

The primary election committee chairman urged the aspirants to ”now come together in the interest of the party”.

He had assured party members before voting started that it would be transparent, free and fair.
