Tim Sherwood has turned down the chance to stay at Tottenham next season as No 2 to the new manager.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy still believes Sherwood has management potential and wants him to remain at White Hart Lane to work with a senior figure.
But Sherwood has no intention of doing so and will walk away at the end of the season.
He signed an 18-month contract when he replaced Andre Villas-Boas in December and Tottenham will have to pay it up after deciding to make a change.
The terms of the agreement are nowhere near the going rate for a top Premier League club, but Levy was prepared to renegotiate at the end of the season if Sherwood made the top four.
Instead, Levy told Sherwood Spurs were making a change before Tottenham’s 5-1 win over Sunderland on Monday.
