Chairman, National Information Centre, Mike Omeri, who disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja also stated that the soldiers "equally dislodged a road block between Damboa and Biu which was mounted by insurgents elements in search of food, fuel and vehicle lubricants.
"Generally, while the insurgents are under pressure, the Nigerian military forces are recording successes in the anti-terror campaign in the North East," he stated.
Omeri called on "well placed individuals, citizens and groups to restrain themselves from uninformed comments and assumptive prepositions that mislead the public, especially the majority of Nigerians who desire peace in their country."
"It has become necessary to reiterate that when security agencies noticed the unusual movement of 35 buses at the time of the night in one direction, the interception became necessary. It was not targeted at anyone, region or religion," he stated.
Meanwhile, the Northern States Christain Forum (NOSCEF), Borno State chapter has began a threeday prayer and fasting for the release of over 200 female students abducted by the Boko Haram sect in Chibok town of Chibok local government council of Borno State on April 14, 2014, as well as the general insecurity situation bedevilling the North East and particularly Borno State.
Speaking at a Press Conference, Thursday, Chairman of the Northern Christian Forum, Bishop Emeritus Emmanuel Kana Mani, said, "We will among other prayers, cry to God on issues bordering on our peculiar situation in Borno, principally, on security matters and for our Chibok abducted girls to be brought back, and by extension to the situations in the North East region, the North in general, the middle belt, the kidnapping in the southern part of the country and other parts of the world having similar problems as well."
He said the group was going to call upon God to intervene in our political situation as the country approaches the election year of 2015 for a peaceful and successful election.
