A leading volunteer group campaigning for re-election of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in Osun, De Raufs Volunteer Group International has warned the People Democratic Party and Omisore Campaign Organisation that the group
will not condone any other attack on their members, the group also condemned the attack her Director of Mobilisation, Comrade Bello Lukman in front of their secretariat describing it as unwarranted and criminal.
In a statement signed by the Director General of the group, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, the incidence occurred when a private car owner were harassed at the entrance of De Raufs office in Osogbo by Omisore campaign thugs, the Director of Mobilisation who was recharging his phone nearby was accused of taking their picture by one of the thugs and they descended on him, broken his Android phone and taken away his Blackberry phone and #250,000 cash meant for the local units of the groups across the state, the incidence was immediately reported at Oke Baale division of Nigeria police Osogbo.
According to Comrade Amitolu Shittu, “it is disheartening that politics is turning to local terrorism, as a peaceful volunteer group, we will not be intimidated by thugs masquerading as a campaign group, Osun people understand the truly people’s government and no party whatsoever can overrun people’s resolve to have a peaceful, free, fair and credible pool come August 9. However, nobody or group can boast of having monopoly of violence, but we assure those who want to unleash terror on our people must realised that we are a people with history of resistance”
He however commends the prompt intervention of Nigeria police in safeguarding the secretariat of the group from further attack from hoodlums.
