Labour wants 13th month salary for Delta workers

NIGERIA Labour Congress, NLC, Delta State chapter, has urged Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State to, in line with his May Day promise, approve the payment of 13th month salary as bonus for workers in the state ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations.

At a meeting of the State Executive Council, SEC, presided over its Chairman, Mr. Williams Akporeha, NLC commended Governor Uduaghan for the regular and prompt payment of workers’ salaries, and due response to workers and labour-related issues in the state.

A statement issued at the end of the meeting said: “Congress wishes to recall with expectation the promise made by the governor in his 2014 May Day speech regarding the approval of the payment of 13th month salary as bonus for workers in the state.

“Congress, therefore, appeal to His Excellency to fulfil his promise to the state workforce not only to raise his admiration among workers, but also to register another success story for the Emmanuel Uduaghan administration.

“Congress is very hopeful as we have now come to know the Governor Uduaghan as a man who works his talk on labour matters, even in the midst of other contending state issues.”
