Lamido presents N99.950bn budget 2015 to Jigawa Assembly

Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State, has presented a budget estimate of N99.950 billion for 2015, to the state House of Assembly for consideration and approval.

Presenting the budget, the governor explained that it was made up of estimated recurrent expenditure of N47.7 billion representing 58 percent while N41.05 billion represents 42 percent was for capital expenses.

Lamido said that the budget which was less than the 2014 budget of N114.7 billion by 13 per cent was aimed at consolidation on his achievements.


Presenting the budget, the governor explained that it was made up of estimated recurrent expenditure of N47.7 billion representing 58 percent while N41.05 billion represents 42 percent was for capital expenses.

Lamido, however, admitted that his ongoing projects within and outside the state may not be completed but assured that he will not leave behind elephant projects.

He attributed the decrease in this years budget to the global fall in crude oil price, noting that the 2015 fiscal year would usher in greater discipline aimed at making the state better for all.

Lamido further said that the 2015 appropriation bill provided for the completion of most of the ongoing projects; put in place job creation and poverty reduction, including economic empowerment infrastructures, stressing that it would also, help in transforming the state in the Education, Roads, Health, Women and Social development sectors.

According to him, the budget was premised on the Medium Term Expenditure Framework, MTEF, and the Fiscal Strategy Paper, FSP, even as it was projected that N267 billion would accrue to the state from various sources within now and 2017.

Receiving the budget, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adamu Ahmad assured the governor that the House would give the appropriation expeditious consideration.
