Amaechi's Aide Freddy Ndiagbara Regains Freedom

An aide to Governor Rotimi Amaechi and Deputy Press Secretary, Freddy Ndiagbara, who was abducted on Sunday February 22, 2015, was released last night.

An aide to Governor Rotimi Amaechi and Deputy Press Secretary, Freddy Ndiagbara.

Ndigbara, who was speaking to PM News on phone, did not revealed the details of his ordeal but expressed his gratitude to the press, his constituency and everyone who put pressure on the kidnappers to set him free.

When journalists asked him if he was tortured, the governor’s aid said:

“That is normal…because of the pressure piled up for my release in the media they wondered why I should be telling them that I am just a civil servant attached to Government House”.

“Each time I argued and disagreed with them, I was starved for two days. All the same, I give glory to God for being alive. I thank God for my safety.”

It is still not clear if ransom was paid before Ndiagbara was released.

It would be reminded that Amaechi’s aid was approached and kidnapped by the gunmen during ward rally of the All Progressives Congress in Kaani Community, Khana Local Government Area.

Commenting on the accident, Governor Amaechi stated that the abduction of his Deputy Chief Press Secretary was politically motivated.

According to him, Ndigbara and one of the political leaders in Kaani, Celestine Akpobari, were able to convert over 5,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC. In Amaechi’s opinion, it might have been the reason for the abduction.
