We won’t tolerate further shift in polls – APC

The All Progressives Congress, APC, declared yesterday that it will not tolerate any further shift in the general elections fixed for March 28 and April 11.

In a communique issued at the end of its First Leadership Meeting in Abuja, the party also resolved that “the use the card readers for March 28 and April 11 is non-negotiable, saying contrary to the misinformation being disseminated, the use of card readers is not synonymous with electronic voting.

The party also resolved that “mmediate and necessary disciplinary action for all individuals that were involved in the subversion of democracy in June 21 Ekiti governorship election as revealed by the videos released by Sahara Reporters.

“They include, Brigadier General Aliyu Momoh who should be immediately investigated by the military authorities; Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Jelili Adesiyan, who should immediately be relieved of his ministerial appointment; former Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Senator Musliu Obanikoro whose name has just been sent to the Senate for confirmation again as a minister of the Federal Republic must not be confirmed by the Senate and must be barred henceforth from holding any public office.

“That in line with the Court of Appeal decision of yesterday (Monday) that upheld an earlier judgment of the Sokoto Federal High Court that ruled as illegal the participation of the military in the electoral process, the military should be kept away from election duties henceforth.

“That the rescheduled election dates of March 28 and April 11 remain sacrosanct as the party will not tolerate any further shift

“That the use of the card readers for March 28 and April 11 is non-negotiable, as contrary to the misinformation being disseminated, the use of card readers is not synonymous with electronic voting.”

At the meeting, the party’s presidential candidate, General Buhari expressed gratitude to the members of the party for their support in the campaigns so far, submitting that their patience and resilience had been put to test with the postponement of the elections.
