BH: DHQ Reacts To Alleged Frustration Of Allied Forces

The Nigerian army has reacted to the alleged frustration of neighboring troops who are part of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency.

Channels Television on Wednesday reported that the reaction was conveyed by the spokesman of the Defense Headquarters, Major General Chris Olukolade.

Major Olukolade, who denied the report, explained that the current wave of events in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency in the northeastern part of the country was conceived and being driven by the Nigerian Military.

He also cleared the air that the Nigerian Military enjoys the backing of the reinvigorated MNJTF with troops from Chad, Cameroon and Niger.

The military spokesman said such claims were geared towards causing a rift between the Nigerian Military and its Allied Forces, which could be detrimental to the operations as well as relationships.

“The Defense Headquarters is concerned that its operations are being undermined by a false report of discord between the Nigerian Military and its allies,” he said.

General Olukolade insisted that outside the latitudes permitted by the operational guidelines of the MNJTF, the sovereignty of Nigeria has not been compromised.
He assured that the Nigeria Military would not be discouraged by the false report, as its operations would continue on all fronts, including aerial bombardment of identified hideouts and ground operations of the terrorists group.

General Olukolade further hinted that the Nigerian Military and the Allied Forces have successfully reclaimed territories that were initially seized by the Boko Haram Islamist sect.

Recall that the Defense Headquarters last week hinted that troops wiped out insurgents from Gulag, Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State as well as Bara in Gulani Local Government Area of neighboring Yobe State.

Meanwhile, there were reports on Tuesday that Chadian army officers, who are part of the West African Joint Military Task Force to fight Boko Haram insurgency, were complaining that the Nigeria’s Federal Government (FG) is stalling their operations to help in fighting the Boko Haram terrorists group.

Recall that after Nigerian troops reclaimed Baga, Army Chief Major General Kenneth Minimah promised that his soldiers would recapture a handful of remaining towns before the elections, listing Dikwa as one of them.
