Earlier, it was reported that The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Organization (APCPCO) blamed the recent fuel scarcity in some parts of the country on the maladministration of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lead government.
The party who also faulted the PDP administration for the recent reduction in the hours of electricity supply across the country, wondered how a political party which has been in power for 16 years have failed to ensure that its citizens enjoy regular fuel supply being an oil producing and endowed country.
But in response to this, the PDP National Chairman, Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu has played down the opposition party’s accusations, insisting that accusing fingers shouldn’t be pointed to the ruling party but rather to rather to the opposition party.
Adamu Mu’azu said that some concerned Nigerians drew his attention to the fact that some opposition leaders & vested interest are behind hoarding of fuel, and plans by those who control the South-West Disco to sabotage electricity in the zone.
He took to his twitter account to share this:
“Concerned Nigerians have drawn our attention to the fact that some opposition leaders & vested interest are behind hoarding of fuel
“Concerned Nigerians also draw our attention to plans by those who control the South-West Disco to sabotage electricity in the zone”
He added: “We assure Nigerians, they will fail. All their plans to tarnish the image of government will fail like all other previous attempts
“We want to assure concerned Nigerians especially all of you here on social media that we will reverse this trend soonest
“Thank you for drawing our attention to this issue swiftly”.
Out of the 11 Distribution Companies (DISCO) in the country, three can be found in the south-west.
In Lagos, The Eko Electricity Distribution Company Plc is Nigeria’s commercial and financial hub and the Agbara industrial region. Eko Disco’s franchise includes Festac, Ijora, Lagos Island, Ajah and Agbara/Badagry districts of the Lagos South zone, with the Republic of Benin as a potential target of electricity export.
Eko Disco owns and maintains 51 number 33 KV and 217 number 11 KV circuits, covering 508 and 2, 137.95 kilometers respectively, It also operates 48 number 33/11 KV injection substations and 4, 019 number 116/0.415 KV distribution substations.
While the second, Ikeja Electricity Distribution company Plc has a franchise for distributing and marketing electricity in the Ikeja Zone which includes parts of Lagos, Shomolu, Alimosho, Ojodu, Ikorodu, Oshodi and Abule-Egba. In 2005, Ikeja Disco delivered a total of 3, 520, 324, 310 GWh of electricity to 464, 756 registered Customers.
According to Adamu Mu’azu, it’s believed that the All progressives Congress control both Distribution companies by proxy.
However, the PDP National Chairman will never have envisage what was going to hit just after he dropped his tweet as angry twitter users took to their handles to drop some really harsh comments.
Meanwhile, it would be recalled that in rise to the vindication of NNPC as investigations carried out by PricewaterhouseCoopers revealing that no fund was missing, Adamu Mu’azu took to twitter to call out “Unpatriotic Nigerians” who he felt were too quick to jump to conclusions.
