Nigerian Army Recovers Yobe Community From Boko Haram

The Nigerian army today, March 2, has said it has defeated Boko Haram insurgents in Kukawa Geri, a community in Gujba local government area of Yobe state.

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) via its official Twitter account said soldiers have taken control of the community.

The DHQ also stated that cordon and search operations are continuing in the area.

In the past weeks, the Nigerian army has reclaimed several communities under the control of the Boko Haram terrorists.

President Jonathan accompanied by the chief of defence staff, Alex Badeh, all service chiefs and the inspector general of police, Suleiman Abba, visited some of the recaptured areas including Mubi and Baga.

The army has also said that the six-week operation which led to the shift of Nigeria’s general elections have so far been effective.

The main electoral body postponed elections until March 28 and April 11, citing security reasons.

Nigerian military authorities have issued a security warning of plans by Boko Haram to carry out suicide bombings in several parts of the country.
