The elections have come and gone but the naysayers are yet to come to terms with the reality that the Chief Change agent will take over the leadership of the most populous black nation in the world after four consecutive attempts.
He saw what others did not see…The Northwest and Northeast were his traditional strongholds having polled 12 million Votes in 2011 with a party he formed barely 5 months to the elections without INEC assistance..his best individual outing before the 2015 polls.
All that is now history…In his fourth attempt,an Alliance was formed and he rode on the failures of the incumbent to defeat the latter in a historical fashion.
Fast forward to May 29th 2015…GMB will cry again when the books of the accounts of Nigeria in the last 6 years are opened..Yes…Jonathan the Prodigal son and his crew have mismanaged Nigeria…badly!
But the good news is that GMB is modest and will not be distracted by the tendencies of the high office he will soon occupy…Yes he will be supported by the same set of party folks who midwifed his election, all with their lorry loads of baggages!
But the point remains that a man who hardly amassed wealth as a Dictator in 1983 at the age of 40 will not engage in the business of siphoning public funds at the age of 72 as a Civillian elected President!
The issue of his daughter schooling abroad is nothing but petty to say the least…While it is understandable that schooling abroad costs a ‘arm and leg’, it is not sufficient to tamper with the record of modesty of the General….Even the alleged story of the missing 24 or 42 suitcases containing foreign curriences must have either been deposited at the Bank of Aljanah or buried in a cemetary to be unearthed in the next world!
You cannot hide wealth…….Ask the IBB’s, OBJ’s, Abdulsalami’s and co.who live large in fortified mansions built by the Julius Bergers and Other government contractors of this world……they all envy the modesty of GMB but their insatiable apetite for the good things of this world blinded their love for fatherland!
The task before the General is herculean…but one step at a time…and he will set the ball rolling….
He will not work with saints but his Passion and Modesty will be his driving force…
Like Pa Adekunle Ajasin and Pa Bisi Akande….GMB will be modest with funds….Infact a lot of his political folks might disagree and possibly gang up against him, but his resilience will etch his name in gold whenever history is written again…He has a versatile deputy who by all means is unambitious politically……They will make difficult decisions and better the lots of Nigerians!!
