Like Patience, Like Aisha? READ How Buhari’s Wife Is Desperately For Power

Aisha's Desperation For Power Worries Buhari

Aisha Buhari, wife of Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari, is reportedly seeking influence at all costs after being stripped of the ‘First Lady’ status.

Sources who made this disclosure to Sahara Reporters stated that the apparent determination of Mrs Buhari to transform herself into a politically powerful spouse, in defiance of her husband’s wishes, is increasingly raising concerns.

The sources noted that despite the fact that Buhari had ordered that his wife should not be officially addressed as ‘First Lady’, she has been operating as one and is increasingly trying to wield influence.

It is believed that Mrs Buhari is seeking to join the league of first ladies following the trend since Nigeria’s return to democratic governance in 1999, where wives of successive presidents had operated in a politically controversial and high profile manner.

And just like the immediate past first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, who exhibited some of the worst attributes of recent presidential spouses with her incessant meddle with state affairs, Buhari’s wife is more determined than ever, to build affluence for herself like her past three predecessors.

She reportedly took three of her powerful friends; former senator Pauline Tallen from Plateau state, Fatimat Abubakar, wife of former vice president Abubakar Atiku, and a former minister of women affairs, Hajia Hajo Sani, with her to the Aso Rock villa as she hastily moved into the presidential lodge before her husband.

Reports have also suggested that the activities of these three friends have become a cause for concern for the Nigerian president.

The source said: “Mr. President [Buhari] is a simple man by nature. He still doesn’t want his wife, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, to begin to play the kind of role that First Lady Mrs. Patience Jonathan played.”

President Buhari, only last week, ordered agents of the State Security Services (SSS) to arrest his wife’s brother, Musa Yola, for allegedly defrauding a businessman of N300 million in exchange for securing an oil bloc for his dupe.
