A Kano high court sitting in Gezawa has ruled today July 2, 2015, that the case between the operatives of EFCC and the troubled Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the state former governor, to maintain the status quo pending the determination of the substantive suit before it.
The attorney representing Kwankwaso, had told the court on Wednesdays that the incessant threat by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to arrest him has resulted to being throttled in his Abuja residence.
Addressing the court on the expert motion filed to restrain the anti-corruption agency from arresting the erstwhile governor, Barrister Okechukwu Eze explained that the move by commission if executed would deny his client fundamental rights.
The lawyer further said that Kwankwaso who is now a senator representing Kano central has been in his house over the threat of arrest by the EFCC and has been denied the liberty to perform his legislative duties as mandated by voters of his constituency.
Eze had begged the court to hold the commission back from the new senator further imploring the court that the way things were should be maintained pending the decisions of the suit.
Meanwhile, Justice Mohammed Yahaya had adjourned the case from yesterday.
