INSIDE STORY: How Nass Clerk Salisu Maikasuwa Was Bribed To Hurriedly Inaugurate Saraki As The Senate President
Recalled that a recent outcry on the scheming way in which Sen. Bukola Saraki emerged the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has been all over the media of late. Divergent views have are on air, as to why constitutional due process was not followed, coupled with the internal arrangement of the All Progressive Congress APC for a consensus candidate.
However, accusations and counter accusations have been pushed forward to buttress the betrayal by some party members, who are currently preparing the ground for the 2019 General Elections, which is still about some four years to come. Even though it is believed that with all the togetherness shown by these party members, some are still aggrieved as to why the Party Leader; Bola Asiwaju Tinubu should be in control of the party structures. Their reason is not farfetched from the just concluded 2015 General Election Primaries of the APC, which was transparently held in Lagos State.
Divergently, during the APC Presidential Primary, a seems to be powerful former Vice President of Nigeria; Alh Atiku Abubakar, felt so bad that he was betrayed by the Party Leader, Bola Tinubu, who allowed Gen Muhammadu Buhari to emerge the Presidential flag bearer of the party. As a result, Atiku had to plan ahead and strategies in order to weaken the influences of Tinubu from within and outside the party terrain. That was why he Atiku, used all available resources to fund the campaign and election of Gen Muhammadu Buhari in order to shift any iota of suspicion. Moreover, Atiku sees Tinubu as a threat, hence all hand must be on deck to stop the party leader from having his way in this government and in the yet to come 2019 General Elections.
Thus, to break Tinubu’s grip in the APC, Atiku ensured that none of the candidates put forward by the party, believed to be candidates of Tinubu, would succeed in taking over the second arm of government, the NASS Legislature. On this note, Atiku tried his best possible as well as garner support from other business tycoons in the country, to support the Candidature of Sen. Bukola Saraki to emerge Senate President. With such effort, most Oil Big Shots, Telecom Multi-Nationals, PDP Leaders and others gave their support towards the scheme.
Worthy of note, is that in spite of all these support, still the camp of Atiku would not have made it a reality, only but if a key personality in the National Assembly was pooled to their side. And that individual is no other than Alh. Salisu Maikasuwa, the Clerk of the National Assembly since 2010. We cast our mind back to who this man really is, under the 7th NASS and how he got away with all his Corrupt activities. He was the same personality who swindled the staff of NASS Millions of Naira of their allowances and entitlement, but was shielded by the then Senate President David Mark. There has been various allegations as to how Alh. Maikasuwa and his NASS Management Team have left no stone unturned in diverting public funds, meant to take care of the welfare of NASS Staff. Alh. Maikasuwa believes he is untouchable, since he has the support of thieves and rogues in the NASS, who sees nothing wrong in what the Clerk was subjecting the Staff of NASS to.
Today, it is the same atrocity that Alh. Maikasuwa does in the NASS, that he has shown the world by way of being Partisan. Investigations revealed that Alh. Maikasuwa is still loyal to Sen. David Mark for covering his loots all these years. I stand to be corrected that at present, in order to orchestrate the plan by the Oil Business men, and to ensure that they have someone at the helm of affairs in NASS, who will always halt any move by President Muhammadu Buhari to fight their Corrupt practices, they decided to sponsor the scheme. And in Sen. Saraki they found that personality, while Alh. Maikasuwa was made to perfect the game plan after parting with the sum of about One Billion Naira N1,000,000,000 at first instance. While on a later date after a successful inauguration of their most indicted ally, Sen. Saraki, the Clerk would be given another Five Hundred Million Naira N500,000,000 in second instalment.
That is not just all, at the same time, the same Oil Cabals are on the move to ensure that some Corrupt Police Officers; such as AIG. Tunde Ogunsaki is sent into an Anti-Graft agency as Head, in order to protect their interest when it comes to investigating and probing their long time corrupt activities. The plan is also to install Sen. Bukola Saraki as the Senate President, known to have corruption allegation on him, so that he can as well prevent any Incorruptible Personalities which President Muhammadu Buhari may likely send for screening, to head Anti-Graft agencies. The Elitist and Capitalist tendencies of these Oil Tycoons, is the baseline for the emergence of Sen. Bukola Saraki as the Senate President.
Even as a plan to make sure that Principal Officials of the NASS, must be persons who will protect the interest of these Cabals. Most especially, the “Senate Committee Chairman on Drugs, Narcotic and Financial Crimes”, which will protect the Drug Barons and Corrupt ones among the Oil Tycoons, Senators and Ministers in Ex-Presdent Goodluck Jonathan’s Administration. No wonder the People Democratic Party PDP, has threaten APC not to intimidate or harass the Clerk of NASS and Sen. Bukola Saraki, owing to the fact that most of them are having corruption allegations hanged on their neck by Anti-graft agencies.
Unfortunately, these set of Politicians and Oil Cabals, were actually waiting for a slight mistake from President Muhammadu Buhari, so they would have something to hold onto. It was a smart move that the President did, when he said “Even though they had preferred the choice of the APC, Sen. Bukola Saraki’s election was constitutional”. I tell you, it was a big shock to the camp of Atiku, who were expecting the President to recant his words of not intending to interfere with the election of NASS Leadership. This will then give a good ground for them to commence a big fight with the President, thereby leading the camp of Atiku-Saraki to decamp to PDP, in order to have a majority in the NASS.
We are beginning to wonder if such kind of illicit wealth accumulation has now become a norm in our society. Where people see nothing wrong in impunity, but believe that in as much as it has occurred, it should be left to wither away without any punitive measure on the perpetrators. We put it to President Muhammadu Buhari, that what does it mean to say the election of Sen. Bukola Saraki is constitutional? That is not TRUE, because if the manner in which the above bribery and corruption culminated into making an individual a Senate President, then all Oil thieves who have wrecked havoc on Nigeria and Nigerians must be left to go scot free, if they can also bribe their way through Anti-graft agencies.
Even as we do not support disunity in the APC, yet the perpetrators of this robbery on democracy, which led to the emergence of Sen. Bukola Saraki as Senate President, must be made to face the wrath of the law.
