The Federal Government has declared Thursday, Oct. 1 public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 55th Independence celebration.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Mr Abubakar Magaji, made the declaration on behalf of the government in a statement signed by Yusuf Isiaka the Ministry’s Director of Press.
The statement was made available to newsmen on Monday in Abuja.
Magaji, while congratulating Nigerians both at home and abroad, thanked them for supporting President Muhammadu Buhari in his efforts to build a peaceful, united and virile nation.
He urged Nigerians to use the occasion of the celebration to pray for peace and unity of the country .
