Arsenal prospect Alex Iwobi has been called up by Nigeria.

The 19-year-old, who was on the bench for Wednesday's Capital One Cup tie with Tottenham, is widely regarded as one of Arsenal's best young talents.

He is the nephew of former Nigeria and Bolton captain Jay-Jay Okocha and Nigeria have called him up to their squad for friendlies against Congo and Cameroon in October.

Iwobi was born in Nigeria and trained with their Under 23 squad this year but has played for England at the Under 16, 17 and 18 levels.

Earlier this year Iwobi spoke about his decision to play for Nigeria.

'My dad too has told me a lot of things about the honour and pride that goes with playing for Nigeria,' he said.

'So I thought a lot about this and decided to play for Nigeria.'
