Boko Haram suspects have killed at least eight people and kidnapped many others over their collaboration with the security, Cameroon residents disclosed.
According to Voice of America, the incident occurred on Thursday, September 17, in the border village of Aisaharde near a military base in Mora.
One of the locals identified as Pia Robers said that about 30 militants invaded the village in the early hours of yesterday and moved from door to door reading the names of people from a list.
Once a person’s name was pronounced, one was accused of collaborating with Cameroonian soldiers and then either killed or whisked away.
Eight people were found dead upon the police arrival. The number of people kidnapped is yet to be provided.
Midjiyawa Bakary, the governor of Far North Cameroon, confirmed the attack adding that the military was combing the hills on the border with Nigeria in search of the insurgents responsible for the assault.
It should be noted that Cameroon is part of the Multi-National Joint Task Force fighting Boko Haram terrorism in the region.
