The special assistant on new media to Ayo Fayose, the Ekiti state governor, Lere Olayinka, has dismissed claims by former governor of Ekiti and ministerial nominee, Kayode Fayemi, that the old Ekiti state government house was unbefitting.
Lere, in a Facebook post on Wednesday, October 15, said the reasons given by the now confirmed minister was an excuse justify his action.
“This is OSHUNTOKUN LODGE, Ekiti Govt House where he lived before wasting N3.3bn on a new Gov Lodge. He said this building is TWO BEDROOM! I understand sha. Someone must have to say something to justify his actions,” he wrote.
While answering questions from senators during his ministerial screening, Fayemi had said he decided to build a new government house to give the the state a befitting government house as against the 2 bedroom he was using.
He also said the new government house was motivated by the kind of government house built by the former Akwa Ibom state governor now senate minority leader, Godswill Akpabio. But Fayemi’s claims were dismissed by Lere Olayinka as a misrepresentation of facts.
Meanwhile, Fayemi was among the 18 ministers confirmed by the Senate yesterday, October 14, after day two of the ministerial screening exercise.
