Amaechi Holds Thanksgiving Service In...

Former Rivers governor, Rotimi Amaechi, organized a thanksgiving service yesterday, October 25.

The former governor who was in the company of his wife, Judith, and the governorship candidate of the All progressives Congress, Peterside Dakuku had the evening service to celebrate the 8th year of the supreme court ruling that made him governor of the state on October 25th 2007.

The evening celebration featured hymns, psalms and spiritual songs and was held at Aztech Arcum along Ken Saro Wiwa road. Recall that 8 years ago,  the supreme court had nullified the election of Celetine Omehia and installed Rotimi Amaechi as governor.

In the same vein, on Saturday, October 24, the Rivers state Election Petition Tribunal dismissed Nyesom Wike as the governor of the state and ordered a fresh poll.

The petition challenging the election of Wike as the Rivers state governor was filed by Dakuku Peterside, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress.

In its petition filed on May 3, Peterside and the APC urged the tribunal to nullify the election in the entire 23 local government areas of the state and order fresh ones on account of alleged substantial non-compliance with electoral law. Peterside and his supporters reacted with jubilation in Abuja, when the news of the tribunal’s ruling broke.
