Ahead of the December 5 governorship poll in Bayelsa state, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Board of Trustees, Bello Haliru Mohammed, has reiterated the party’s commitment in ensuring that the state governor, Seriake Dickson, is returned for second term.
The BoT chairman said that the PDP means business in the forthcoming election noting that it was for that reason that made the party set up what he described as a “high-powered committee” to lead party faithful to Yenagoa and ensure that the flag of the party continues to fly in the Bayelsa.
Mohammed said that the party has significantly raised the welfare and wellbeing of the people of the state and has won their confidence since 1999 to deserve the re-election of Governor Dickson in the forthcoming governorship poll, This Day reports.
Stating this on Thursday, November 5, at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja at a meeting of the national campaign committee on Bayelsa state 2015 governorship election which is under his chairmanship, Mohammed added that the committee was constituted by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to ensure that PDP wins the crucial election convincingly.
The chairman through his media aide, Emeka Nwapa, said that the party would leave no stone unturned in its determination to maintain its hold in the strategic state of the South-south zone.
He noted that in view of the governorship election in the state, there are widespread indications that the people of Bayelsa are not unhappy with the state governor and the people-oriented policies and programmes of the party put forward in the state.
Mohammed said: “It bears no repeating that our party means business in this election hence the setting up of this high-powered committee to lead party faithful to Yenagoa and ensure that the flag of our great party continues to fly in the Bayelsa State Government House come December 5. Our mission therefore is very clear and the message is unambiguous: Go to Yenagoa and make sure that our great party wins this election fair and square.
Meanwhile, the PDP had asked President Muhammadu Buhari to resign as commander-in-chief of the federation over his inability to stir the nation towards economic success.
