PDP Accuses APC Of Conducting Secret Probe
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of embarking on a secret probe of the administration of Muazu Babangida Aliyu, the former governor of Niger state.
This Day reports that this accusation was labelled against the APC by Tanko Beji, the deputy chairman of the PDP in Niger state on Monday December 28 after a stakeholders meeting of the party.
Beji claimed the APC led government in the state was embarrassing its members with the secret investigation ahead of the local government elections in the state.
He described the action as illegal as any investigation is expected to be backed by legal documents.
Some officials of the PDP-led former administration were arrested for allegedly diverting public fund.
He said: “The ruling APC is witch hunting our members using ‘secret committee’s and security agents.
“There are procedures for investigation but not through secret committees, nothing like hiding under anything like a cult, they are afraid not us, we are waiting for their antics.”
He accused the APC government all over the country on complaining that money was missing instead of embarking on projects and fulfilling its campaign promises.
“The APC government has not achieved anything in the state since they came on board apart from making all kinds of frivolous excuses, we are also keeping records that would be used after their exit.”
The deputy chairman said the stakeholders meeting was targeted at gearing up the morale of its candidates and members of the party ahead of the election and expressed confidence in the success of the PDP.
“We are prepared and ready for the local government elections just like before it was rescheduled, we are ready with all the necessary logistics for the election scheduled for 16th January, 2016.”
Meanwhile, Prince Tony Momoh, a chieftain of the APC and former minister of information said Nigerians should stone them if at the end of the day, President Muhammadu Buhari doesn’t deliver on his campaign promises.
