Governors Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti and Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state set aside their political differences during a meeting yesterday, January 26.
Fayose said those promoting dictatorship in a democracy will end up in the stomach of the dictator.
According to Fayose, his visit to Aregbesola was in the interest of the Yoruba nation.
“My interest is the unity of the Yoruba nation and that’s why I am here.
“I was moved by the historic visit of Ooni to the Alaafin and I am of the opinion that the Yoruba leaders must unite.
“The Yoruba nation must not be rubbished. Our leaders must not be rubbished irrespective of the political they belong to,” he said.
On his part, Aregbesola commended Fayose for the maturity and clear headedness that his visit to Osun represents.
He stated that he would continue to work with the Ekiti governor and other Yoruba leaders to better the life of the average Yoruba man.
Both governors were elected on different political platforms. Aregbesola belongs to the All Progressives Congress while Fayose is a member of the opposition, Peoples Democratic Party and a major critic of the Muhammadu Buhari-led APC government.
He recently warned Buhari to beware of him, saying any “attempt to confront me and attack his government will bring Buhari’s government down.”
The Ekiti state chapter of the APC alleged that he was suffering from psychological stress which prompted him to make seditious remarks against the president.
