NSCDC Arrests 20 Pipeline Vandals In Ondo...
The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps said it had arrested no fewer than 20 persons in connection with pipeline vandalism in the riverine area of the state.
The State Commandant of the Corps, Mr Adeyinka Ayinla, made this disclosure in a chat with journalists at the state command headquarters in Alagbaka Akure on Wednesday.
According to him, the command has also destroyed 10 illegal refineries and impounded 22 trucks that were loaded with thousands of adulterated petroleum products, the Automobile Gasoline Oil also known as diesel and Premium Motor Spirit (petrol).
Ayinla explained that the suspects allegedly siphoned oil from the vandalised oil pipeline.
He said, “Majority of the arrests were made in the Ondo Southern Senatorial District which is the riverine area of the state.”
Some of the items recovered from the suspects, according to the commandant included, 10 pumping machines, speed boat engines, 330 metres of BEDC cables, and 16 prepaid metres.
The commandant said his administration was committed to free the state from illegal bunkering and other forms of criminality, adding that the corps will continue to wage war against saboteurs of the country’s economy.
He urged the good people of Ondo state to cooperate with security agencies by giving useful and timely information that could help to foil the activities of pipeline vandals and other criminals in the state .
