Indications emerged yesterday that the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC) has not started producing fuel but is only producing diesel and kerosene, The Guardian reports.
The crude used in producing diesel and kerosene presently at the refinery are allegedly the remnants in the feedstock tanks supplied before the refinery packed up last year. An executive member of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) also told The Guardian at the PPMC depot yesterday that the fuel being sold to marketers at the depot was imported and not the one produced at the Warri Refinery.
He said: “It is a lie, they are not producing anything, they are just deceiving Nigerians. What they are producing is diesel and kerosene from left over crude oil in their tanks. They just finished repairing the pipeline that will supply crude from Escravos, and so far, the refinery is yet to receive any crude. So, if they tell you they are producing fuel, tell them to show you.”
