President, Family Federation for World Peace Unification (FFWPU), George Ogurie, has called on world leaders, who passed the same sex marriage into law in their countries, to reverse their decision for the sake of humanity.
Ogurie made this statement at a press conference to mark the 4th Anniversary of the Universal Ascension of the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the Founder of Universal Peace Federation (UPF), in Abuja.
This follows the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that legalized gay marriage nationwide.
He asserted that over 21 countries of the world had passed it into law.
He further expressed regrets over the issue as some African countries among other countries had legalized same sex marriage.
The statement reads, “Those leaders need to reverse their decision as it is against the purpose of creation.
“The world peace today is predicated on the union of man and woman not woman and woman or man and man as it is being practiced in some countries.
“It is unfortunate that such people will do such a thing, but they need to reverse their position for the sake of posterity and for the sake of survival of human race.
“It is important to give proper education of the meaning of the union between man and woman.
“This thing happening today is unfortunate; there is a lot of confusion going on in the world today,
“This idea of gay marriages is just an expression of confusion that is parading the world at this time. People had lost thought with the original intention of the creator.
“There is a reason for creating human being by the creator, and unfortunately when we lose thought with that creator we lose sense of purpose and everything else come to nothing, that is why the idea of gay is coming up.”
Also, The Secretary General of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), Dr. Raphel Oko, attributed selfishness to be the root of all problems in Nigeria.
According to him, “Nigeria could only be good if we live for the sake of other.
“We have huge challenge to move this nation forward.
“The basic thing we need to do is to live for the sake of others; if I live for your sake and you live for my sake, this nation will change.
“But it is unfortunately we are living for our own sake, the root of all this problems is selfishness; Putting of self above others.
”If we want to build a peaceful nation, the ideology of collective reliance, dependent on each other is the beginning point.”
