To end human trafficking in Edo, GODWIN OBASEKI sets up special court
EDO SATE Governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki has finally taken a bold step to end human trafficking in the state.
He stated this while inaugurating the state Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force, this he said will offer home-grown solutions to the anti-social practice.
Speaking during the inauguration, the governor said the activities of human traffickers have become embarrassing to the state and therefore vowed that the state government will deal with the perpetrators by partnering with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons, NAPTIP, and other international organizations involved in the fight against human trafficking.
Governor Obaseki said, “it has been suggested that a special court be established in the state to prosecute perpetrators and I think we will go that way. We are losing our young people to this negative trend and we must make human trafficking a thing of the past in the state.”
