Gunmen shot two policemen in Kaduna

GUNMEN yesterday killed two mobile policemen, who were on patrol on Nnamdi Azikiwe bypass, Kaduna.

The Nation learnt the incident occurred about 5am when the gunmen

fired at the policemen on sight.  Five were injured. A driver was also killed.

Kaduna State Police Command confirmed the incident.

It said detectives had been sent to the area.    Spokesman Yakubu Sabo said the slain policemen were on foot when the incident occurred.

He said: “The police commissioner is sad over the incident. He has vowed to bring the perpetrators to book.

“The CP sympathises with the families of the gallant officers, who laid their lives for their country. He prays for the repose of their souls.

“We are investigating the incident. The culprits will be arrested and prosecuted.”
