Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari was earlier today sworn in as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces for another four years.
While the president made history as the second Nigerian Head of State to rule as a military and civilian president, his former colleagues including Olusegun Obasanjo.
The only former leader present at the Eagle Square, Abuja, venue of his inauguration was General Yakubu Gowon. Ibrahim Babangida, Ernest Shonekan and Goodluck Jonathan were absent.
The reason for their absence was not given despite being invited by the Presidential Inauguration Committee to witness the ceremony.
Meanwhile, former president Goodluck Jonathan took time out to celebrate Nigeria’s Democracy Day via several tweets he posted on Twitter.
