Military Arrests 486 Suspected Boko Haram Member In Abia

Military from the Asa Military Base of 14 Brigade, Ohafia Barracks, Abia State, Sunday arrested 486 suspected insurgents including eight girls. The arrest was made same day bombs were uncovered and defused in a church in neighbouring Imo State.

Barely two months after abducting over 200 schoolgirls from Chibok, Borno State, the militant Islamic sect, Boko Haram, has written to the people of the community to watch out for their next visit.

A highly-placed official of the Chibok Local Government Area, who made this known to journalists on Thursday, said   that in the letter, the insurgents warned Chibok would soon be visited with terror.

Alarmed by the magnitude of killings and destruction of property in Wukari and Ibi local government areas of the state, Taraba State Government yesterday slammed a 24-hour curfew on the two warring communities.

Similarly, the police have been deployed in the affected communities to prevent the escalation of violence and to fish out the perpetrators of the attacks.

►Eight members of the Boko Haram were yesterday killed in a village near Chibok town when operatives of the Nigeria Vigilante Group engaged the armed insurgents in a deadly shootout during an early morning attack, witnesses said.

►The gunmen, had crept upon the sleeping residents of Kwarangilam village of Chibok local government, with the intention of carrying out another massacre, but were shocked to be encountered by shootings from the operatives of the vigilantes who laid in counter ambush.

►The Nigerian Army has intercepted 35 buses carrying suspected insurgents to an unknown destination.
►The groups numbering about 486 persons were arrested in the wee hours around 2AM on Sunday morning along Aro-Ngwa in Aba and Imo gate along Enugu-Port-Harcourt expressway.
