►There was confusion on Tuesday on whether or not the outlawed Boko Haram sect had overrun Bama, a town 70 kilometres from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

►While Chat212 news agency quoted security sources as saying   that the   members of the sect   had overrun much of   the town after hours of fighting on Monday night and early hours of Tuesday, the Deputy Governor of the state, Zannah Mustapha, and the Civilian Joint Task Force   dismissed the report as false.

Impeached Enugu deputy gov rejects redeployment to civil service

►Indications emerged on Tuesday that the impeached deputy governor of Enugu State, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, would not accept his redeployment to the state civil service by Governor Sullivan Chime.

►The Enugu State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress also condemned the development, which would see the former deputy governor demoted from a permanent secretary, his rank before he went into politics, to a deputy director.
