Investors lose N1.8trn at NSE in November

►Investors in the nation’s bourse lost N1.18 trillion in November following pressure caused by drop in oil price at the global market.
►Statistics from the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, for the period under review showed that the market capitalisation dropped by N1.18 trillion to close at N11.404 trillion against N12.579 trillion achieved in October.

The All-Share Index lost 3436.94 basis points or 9.04 per cent to close at 34,543.05 compared with 37,979.99 posted in October due to price depreciation.

The Federal Government, yesterday, gave reason for the cancellation of the training of Nigerian soldiers by American security experts, attributing it to logistic problem.

►The U.S. Government, through its Embassy in Abuja on Monday said in a statement that “At the request of the Nigerian government, the United States will discontinue its training of a Nigerian Army battalion.”
►But Nigerian government explained that it did not cancel the training, but that the condition placed down by US government was not healthy for the security of lives and property of its citizens, particularly those in the north east region.

Police diffuse bomb in Jos as residents scamper for safety

There was a bomb scare yesterday in Jos the Plateau State as a “grenade” was reportedly found near a Primary school in the city thereby forcing the closure of the school and passersby scampering for safety.

The device was reportedly defused by the Police Anti-bomb squad with one of the experts who did not want to be named saying that the fuse on the bomb had been lit, but it went off before it could cause an explosion.
