If you must succeed crack the NNPC nut, Blair tells Buhari

Former British Prime Minister, Mr. Tony Blair, has asked the incoming President, General Muhammadu Buhari, to overhaul the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, saying it was one sure way of tackling corruption and saving more money for infrastructural development.
Blair also asked the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to switch from its opposition status and assume the posture of head of an organisation, stressing that the days of persuasion and agitations were over.

PDP crisis: I resigned for Jonathan to take over BoT says Anenih

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was in ferment last night after its National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu‘azu and chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih resigned their positions.

Anenih in his resignation, however, said that he was resigning in favour of President Goodluck Jonathan to take over as Chairman of the BoT, a suggestion that a senior member of the NWC, last night, dismissed as untenable.

A Senator representing Borno State, Ahmed ​Zanna​, ​is dead.

​Mr. Zanna died Saturday in Abuja. He was 59 years old.

The spokesperson for the Senate, Enyinanya Abaribe, confirmed Mr. Zanna’s death. He said prayers were ongoing at the National Mosque for the late lawmaker.

Mr. Zannah, who represents Borno North Senatorial District, was reelected during the April ​11 ​general elections on the platform of ​the ​A​ll ​Progressives Congress, APC.


Sources close to the family said the late lawmaker, who had been battling with undisclosed illness that caused him partial paralysis, had returned to Abuja on Friday after a medical trip to the United States of America.

​His demise has caused grief in Maiduguri especially around his Damboa Road home which he vacated for IDPs kins from Bama his home town.

Details of his burial has not been announced yet.
