Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomole, yesterday canvassed for a female president in the country, saying Nigeria’s 53 years of nationhood and its 100 years of amalgamation under male leadership have yielded no remarkable progress.
The governor, who drummed up support for women to take up the mantle of leadership at all levels of governance, lamented that recent developments in the country were clear signs that the men were confused and lack vision to steer the ship of state.
Oshiomhole spoke at the 13th National Women Conference (NWC) with the theme: “See Beyond Today; Enhance the quality of Life,” organised by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWOLO).
He said the current situation in the country called for a review of the country’s leadership style. He also took a swipe on the leadership concerning the current ASUU strike, describing the crisis as another indication of the inability of men to steer the ship of state.
His words: “Not everyone is happy with the situation in the country, and due to that, we have raised different suggestions that the Office of the President, Governor and others should be rotated among the ethnic and geo-political zones in the country.”
