Mr Haruna was kidnapped by gunmen on Friday night.

Family sources said the kidnappers dropped Haruna near  his residence at Matazu road in Tudun Wada area of Kaduna metropolis  at about 8:00pm local time. No body harm was meted to him by the kidnappers.

The source said the arrest of the victim’s opponent in the forthcoming PTD elections of Kaduna refinery chapter forced the kidnappers to release him without demanding for any ransom.

A  mammoth crowd of relations and friends immediately besieged Haruna’s residence, when the news filtered in that he had been released.

Earlier report says the suspected kidnappers stormed the residence of Haruna, near Bibal Hospital in Tudun Wada Area of Kaduna metropolis, at about 10:00pm on Friday and whisked him away at gun point in a waiting vehicle parked outside his compound.

The family members said the kidnappers intercepted Haruna while he was about entering the gate of his house after visiting his mother very close to the area and forced him out from his Toyota Venza car, and later transferred him into another waiting car outside and zoomed off.

A close associate of the victim and a former PTD chairman in Kaduna state, Mr Nuhu Mohammed linked Haruna’s abduction to his intention to contest for the PTD chairmanship position of Kaduna refinery branch taking place in a couple of weeks.

Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu , confirming the incident, said there was no demand for ransom from the kidnappers.
