CLERK of the National Assembly, Salisu Maikasuwa said, yesterday, that the 2014 budget will be sent to President Goodluck Jonathan today for his assent.
Maikasuwa who explained that it was not his office that was delaying the transmission of 2014 budget said, “there are many knots that needed to be properly tied before we can send it.“
The Senate had passed the N4.6 trillion budget on April 9, while the House of Representatives passed it the following day, April 10.
The two legislative bodies had upped the total estimates by over N53billion from Jonathan’s initial budget.
He explained that on getting the copy, he had to send it to the legal unit for the usual vetting for all legal implications.
“By God’s grace, the budget will be transmitted on Tuesday”, Maikasuwa added.
The National Assembly is currently on Easter break but is expected to reconvene on April 29.
