►An Ebute-Metta magistrate’s court has ordered that a 31-year-old man, William Kenneth Chukwunango, a.k.a KCM, who murdered his lover, a business woman based in Festac Town, Lagos, Lizzy Njideka-Nzewi, be remanded in prison custody, pending the legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Agwu Chukwu, told the court that the incident occurred on July 19 at the Festac residence of the deceased. He said the defendant killed the woman by stranglating her with her wrapper at about 2 am.
Chukwu further told the court that the defendant stole some items and a cash sum of N140,000 belonging to the deceased after killing her.
Other items stolen by the defendant included one Range Rover Sports Utility Vehicle, SUV, with number plate EKY 509 AZ; one Nokia cellphone; one Motorola cellphone; one Huwai cellphone and Automated Teller Card, ATM, of Diamond Bank.
The offences, according to the prosecutor, are punishable under Sections 221 and 295 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.
Earlier, the defendant had pleaded not guilty but his plea was disregarded.
However, Magistrate A. Ipaye-Nwachukwu ordered that he be remanded in prison custody pending the DPP’s advice, adding that the prosecutor should duplicate the case file and forward same to the DPP for advice.
