THE newly appointed Inspector‑ General of Police, IGP, Suleiman Abba, yesterday, vowed that he would devote considerable energy to ensure that he changed the attitude of the rank and file of the Police.
Speaking, yesterday, when he paid a courtesy visit on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, Senator Bala Mohammed, IGP Abba stressed that he would take measures to change the way Police officers relate with one another and the way they relate with the people they serve.

He added that when he concluded his attitudinal reform of the Police, the men and officers would be more ethical and committed to duty.
He said: “We need to have a change of attitude. When we do that, we will see new Police that are mindful of values of hard work, loyalty and ethics.”
According to him, he decided to visit the Minister on his third day on the post as the Police boss because of the great importance he attached to the Nation’s Capital and the FCT Administration in his scheme of affairs, just as he extended a hand of fellowship to the FCT Administration through increased partnership between the administration and the Police.
Abba on Friday took over from the immediate past Inspector- General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar.
In his remarks, FCTA minister, Senator Bala Mohammed who noted that his appointment has raised fresh hope of a new and better Nigerian Police Force, however described his appointment as a good choice by President Goodluck Jonathan.
While congratulating Mr. Abba, he said he has no doubt that he would take the Police to higher heights, adding that the former Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone7 has a record of hard work and professional excellence.
The Minister who recalled his contributions to the success of the recent centenary celebrations and the World Economic Forum which the FCT hosted during his tenure as the AIG Zone 7, Abuja, further commended the new Inspector-General as an experienced officer who rose through the ranks via dedication and loyalty to the pinnacle of his profession
