Two villages in Plateau state were attacked by suspected Fulani herdsmen on Monday and Tuesday killing 20 people in one village and seven in the other.
The herdsmen attacked Ninji and Ropp villages both in Barikin Ladi Local Government Area stealing cows and torching hundreds of houses.
According to to Channels TV, the death count is 22 claiming officials have yet to give an official number. It was also reported that the victims have now been buried as the villagers fear another attack could be on the cards.
Meanwhile The Guardian online reports that two villages were attacked and the assailants stole cows from the villages; first attacking Ninji village, killing 7 people and later attacking Ropp, killing 20 people.
Council Chairman, Dr. Emmanuel Loman, speaking at the mass burial of the victims said police caught the herdsmen loading stolen cows unto trucks after attacking the first village and stopped the loading.
The herdsmen attacked the second village in retaliation and made way with more cow and killing more villagers.
In a related development, a traditional leader in Plateau state was found dead on Sunday with his limbs amputated.
