Bomb Rocks Parliament Building...
Gunfire and explosions have rocked the Afghan parliament forcing politicians to quickly evacuate.
Al Jazeera’s Jennifer Glasse, reporting from Kabul, said the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack which has resulted in the hospitalization of 21 people including five women and three children.
“Suicide bombers have attacked outside the [parliamentary] building. There are burning cars outside the building.”
Two hours after the attack, police announced that seven attackers were killed including a suicide bomber though it wasn’t evident yet if there were any fatalities on the part of the victims.
The attack began after a suicide car bomb exploded outside the building which was immediately followed by shooting from attackers from an uncompleted building across the street.
Police revealed that at least three police officers were injured.
Six explosions were reported.

The parliamentary session was well attended as the nominee for the minister of defence was supposed to be introduced by the second vice president both of whom were not in the building at that time.
Members of the parliament have been evacuated and are safe.
Just over a year ago, the luxury hotel Serena in Kabul was attacked by gunmen said to belong to the Taliban.
