Why Buhari Must Probe Gov-Adams Oshiomhole, Aregbesola, By PDP

In Edo State the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has challenged the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to demonstrate the much talked about anti-corruption campaign with Edo State if he is serious in purging the country of governors and other highly placed citizens enmeshed in corrupt practices.

This is as the PDP in Osun State has called for the probe of the APC-led government of Governor Rauf Aregbesola over alleged misappropriation of salaries and emoluments of the state workers running into eight months.

The Chairman of the party in Edo State, Chief Dan Orbih, who made the call said the probe of the Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s government had become imperative because according to him, the governor is the most travelled of all governors in the country and must as a matter of responsibility display to the knowledge of Edo people how much the state government owes within and outside the country in the course of running its affairs.

Orbih specifically accused the governor of allegedly frittering away over N200 billion being allocation belonging to the 18 local government councils.

According to Orbih, “In the country, Edo State governor has made more foreign trips than any other governor in the country, yet he has not attracted any investment to the state.”   He stated that the ugly trend has sparked series of protests and strikes by aggrieved workers, especially, those of the state Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) and Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in the state.

In Osun State, Chief Ebenezer Babatope, a PDP chieftain and former Minister of Transport, Senator IyiolaOmisore, the party’s candidate in last year’s governorship election in the state and the PDP in the state had berated Comrade Aregbesola over the way and manner he had ran the fianances of the state leading to non-payment of workers’ salaries, calling on the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe the administration.
