Moses Jitoboh, a serving commissioner of police and chief personal security officer to former president, Goodluck Jonathan, was reportedly arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Sunday, July 19.
According to This Day report, he was lured to the Presidential Villa, where he was arrested.
An EFCC source said that Jitoboh was brought into their custody on Sunday.
When contacted, the EFCC spokesman Mr. Wilson Uwujaren said that he didn’t have any information on the reported arrest.
Jitoboh was appointed ADC to Governor Diepreyie Alamieyeseigha of Bayelsa State in 1999 and lost his position after the governor’s impeachment and Jonathan’s swearing-in as substantive governor.
However, in 2007 when Jonathan emerged Vice President, he resurfaced as his ADC and continued until May 2010 when Jonathan was sworn in as substantive President and thereafter continued as Chief Personal Security Officer.
Jitoboh is the third security aide of the former president to face harassment in a week.
Last Thursday, former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki was detained by operatives of the Department of State Security Services (DSS).
Report later surfaced that Gordon Obuah, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to former President Jonathan had been arrested by the DSS on the same day. He was reportedly detained on Thursday, 4 days after he was asked to report daily to the headquarters of SSS.
