JUST IN: SERAP Drags JAMB To Court Over Cut-off Marks

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has sued the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board and the University of Lagos over the decision to cut-off marks.

Candidates writing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) at JAMB office, Bwari in Abuja.

The SERAP is seeking a demand to stop JAMB, UNILAG and others from fulfilling the ‘outrageous’ decision.

The suit number FHC/L/CS/1139/2015 filed today at the Federal High Courtby Adetokunbo Mumuni on behalf of SERAP and three applicants affected by the cut-off marks decision.

It would be recalled that JAMB had announced a reduction in its cut-off mark for students.

The move caused protests from aggrieved parents and the examination body was forced to take another decision.

It explained that policy was meant to enable that every candidate with a reasonable score of 180 and above was placed somewhere in an institution.
