Robin van Persie is set to fly to Istanbul this weekend to complete his move from Manchester United to Fenerbache.
The two clubs opened talks yesterday with the Turks hopeful of negotiating a £4.7million fee after agreeing personal terms of a £240,000-a-week with Van Persie for a three-year contract - with the option of a 12-month extension.
United still have to agree a pay-off with Van Persie for the final year of his contract at Old Trafford.
But the 31-year-old Holland striker is set to travel to Turkey on Sunday and could be unveiled by Fenerbache 24 hours later.
It is understood Van Persie was open to the prospect of staying at United. But having seen his relationship with manager Louis van Gaal became strained, the former Arsenal striker was given no guarantees over his first-team opportunities after returning for pre-season training.
Fenerbahce, who unveiled former United winger Nani last Sunday, hope to present Van Persie to supporters in Istanbul this weekend once the finer details of his contract and pay-off are ratified.
Van Persie had one year left on contract at Old Trafford and United were looking for £10million while they had no immediate desire to offer him an extension.
