How New Lagos PDP Chairman Will Emerge - Ogunlewe

As the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) prepares for its congress, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, former minister of works, has said that the party must choose people that have passion for the party, people that are knowledgeable about how to run a political party, and show interest to lead the party.
The PDP chieftain said further that anyone who is interested in being the state chairman of the party should come out and campaign to the members and tell them how he wants to run the party.

He said the era of bringing somebody that is not interested in leading the party but because he is someone’s candidate and want to install him/her is gone.

He said: “We are doing a lot to consolidate on our achievements in Lagos in the last elections. Now that we are planning our congress, we must choose people that have passion for the party…people that are knowledgeable about how to run a political party, and show interest to lead the party.

“Don’t just go and bring somebody that is not interested because he is your candidate and you want to install him that would be a mistake. Anyone interested in being the state Chairman of the party should come out and campaign to the members and tell them how he wants to run the party. It is good to have qualified people to run the party so as to build on this victory.”

He said that the Lagos PDP is more united now, adding however that there can’t be complete unity anywhere but the party is still trying not to destroy the unity it’s currently enjoying.

“In anything in life there is competition but I pray such competition should not destroy the party,” he said

Meanwhile, the acting chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), Dr. Bello Haliru Mohammed has blamed the misfortunes of the party on violation of the PDP’s zoning principle in 2011.
