Metuh Reacts To Alleged PDP Suspension

The crisis rocking the Anambra state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is far from over as fresh reports indicate that a faction loyal to Comrade Tony Nwoye has supported the suspension handed to Chief Olisa Metuh, the party’s national publicity secretary.
This was disclosed in a statement by Basil Ejidike, PDP publicity secretary in Anambra state, who said the Anambra PDP based its decision on allegations of embezzlement levelled against Metuh.

After its executive meeting held on Wednesday, August 12, the Anambra PDP  said: “Following the suspension of Chief Olisa Metuh by the Otolo Ward 1 Nnewi of the PDP (where Olisa hails from) and the ratification of same by the Nnewi North local government chapter, the state executive committee, after assessing the weighty allegations against Olisa Metuh and finding them heinous, in compliance with the PDP Constitution, hereby, ratifies the suspension and forward same to the National Working Committee (NWC).”

The party lamented that Metuh who it said has never voted in any election in Anambra state has done incalculable damage to the party, Daily Independent reports.

But Metuh  while reacting to the suspension, described it as a misconception saying those behind the move are not genuine members of the party.

“Go and investigate the people who are talking about my suspension. If APC people decide to put something in the press and say thery are suspending me , do you expect me to respond to that?. There are more important things to do than to respond to APC “.

“You think as I am anybody in my village or town will say they are suspending me?  Those people have no names. They are people who are not members of our party. They are people who already move from Anambra North because the governor is from there.

“How do you think the PDP will suspend me. We working with all our national and state assembly members and the PDP in Anambra.”

The allegations come after workers at the PDP’s national secretariat in Abuja accused the party’s leadership of squandering N12bn in nine months.
