The government of the United States is ready to cooperate with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). This was made known by the US Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle.
According to Channels TV, the official assured the NNPC leadership of his country readiness to assist the major oil company in reaching its goals.
Entwistle noted that the newly-appointed managing director of the body, Ibe Kachikwu, has his work cut out for him to reform the petroleum sector in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s agenda.
Premium Times adds that the US official characterized Kachikwu’s job as the most challenging in the country, expressing confidence, however, that the new boss possesses all the necessary qualities to handle it and thus move Nigeria forward.
The NNPC head, on his part, reiterated commitment of the corporation to the principles of transparency, efficiency and usefulness.
“My mission is to re-direct and re-energize the work force for greater value addition and I believe that the NNPC, given the right leadership has what it takes to achieve this objective.”
Recall that speaking earlier this week Kachikwu vowed to implement transparency idea by providing the authorities with the transaction operations reports on a regular basis, starting from September.
