Amaechi fail DSS screening... IN Port Harcourt - As indications emerged that former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi may have failed the screening exercise conducted by the Department of State Security Services (DSS) for would- be ministers, the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is profusely begging President Muhammadu Buhari to rethink dumping the former governor, reports
The party has urged President Buhari to disregard the desperate efforts by Gov. Nyesom Wike to tarnish the image of his predecessor in office.
The party in a statement on Monday said the former governor is clean and untainted by corruption.
The statement, which was signed by its state’s Chairman, Dr. Davis Ibiamu Ikanya. condemned Gov Wike’s desperation to drag Amaechi’s name in the mud.
Ikanya noted that people who are close to Amaechi would testify that he is an honest, sincere and courageous gentleman, who is ever ready to go the extra mile to see that Nigeria becomes a better place for the present and future generations.
Amaechi, along with former governors Babatunde Fashola and Kayode Fayemi of Lagos and Ekiti respectively, failed to pass President Buhari's anti-corruption test as the DSS) did not clear them based on allegations of corruption brought against them.
