Senate Brings Up New Rules For Ministerial Nominees

Senate Brings Up New Rules For Ministerial Nominees

As the National Assembly starts the screening of President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial nominees today, October 13, the Senate has said it has dropped the traditional of ‘bow and go’slogan to tell nominees that they have been approved.

The Senate in response to a question via its Twitter handle @NGRSenate, asked by a twitter user with the handle, @AO250880, who inquired if former Rivers state governor, Rotimi Amaechi would be allowed to take a ‘bow and go’ since he was a former chairman of the Conference of Speakers, former Speaker of Rivers state House of Assembly, and former chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF).

The Senate said: “Plenary will start with regular business of the day at 10am then proceed to announcements, before the screening of ministerial nominees. The 8th Senate has jettisoned the tradition of bow and go.”

President Buhari sent the second batch of the ministerial nominees to the National Assembly on Monday, October 12, much to the relief of many Nigerians.
