JOB TITLE: Program Manager (Reproductive Health-Human Resources for Health, RH-HRH)
POSITION AVAILABLE

REPORTING TO: Deputy Director (RH-HRH)
ASSIGNMENT LENGTH: 2 years (Renewable by mutual consent and availability of funding)
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Program Manager will coordinate and provide technical support for the implementation of the HRH project titled ‘Enhancing the Ability of Frontline Health Workers to Improve Health in Nigeria’ in line with the Council’s commitments around reducing maternal mortality and morbidity, and improving youth reproductive well-being in Nigeria.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Play a leading role in the design of strategies and plans for implementation of the HRH program in the target states
2. Provide technical leadership and support for implementation of program activities including meetings, workshops, expert panels etc. in the target states, collaborating with partners and stakeholders in the process
3. Coordinate the development and harmonization of program messages, advocacy materials and related materials for stakeholders’ and partners’ engagement
4. Develop, manage and sustain healthy relationships with partners and stakeholders at federal level and in the states
5. Provide feedback to project partners, stakeholders and policy-makers on project milestones, and initiate discussions and processes for further collaboration
6. Coordinate the activities of consultants and other field staff to ensure timely delivery of high quality outputs
7. Support other staff on the project including the Program Coordinators, Program Officer, M&E Officer and Finance/Admin team to ensure effective and efficient achievement of program objectives
8. Ensure timely collation and submission of high quality project reports to project lead and prime partner, World Health Organization (WHO)
9. Contribute to the design and implementation of research/evaluation studies on the HRH project and the broader RH department portfolio
10. Work with the RH team to ensure effective communication and collaboration with all RH partners and stakeholders.
11. Undertake additional activities as identified by his/her supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A minimum of university degree in the Health or Social Sciences, and MPH or MSc in a field related to public health.
2. Excellent general communication & interpersonal skills
3. Excellent written and spoken English
4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and use of the Internet for information gathering and research
5. Experience working in the north, and ability to speak Hausa is preferred
6. Experience working with international donor funded projects a strong plus, including budgeting of workshops, events, training, travel, as well as narrative and financial reporting
7. Willingness and ability to travel frequently within Nigeria, especially to Bauchi and Cross River States
8. Prior experience: 5 years’ experience implementing maternal/reproductive health programs involving health system strengthening, significant advocacy and engagement with state and local government officials and departments, providing support for program activities in communities and health facilities, and capacity building for health workers.
9. Ability to handle a heavy workload with competing priorities and work independently with minimal supervision as part of a team.
